Duties/Responsibilities:

SUMMARY:

The Head of Construction is responsible for overseeing construction; store planning, store design and maintenance for both the Wet Seal and Arden B divisions. Position reports directly to the CEO.

• Oversee the selection of General Contractors and candidates from a design and construction standpoint; review and approve qualifying General Contractor bids.
• Monitoring construction progress with weekly updates and reports.
• Direct the development, implementation, and ongoing support for the construction of new stores and existing facilities.
• Develop global construction strategy for future growth.
• Oversee the development of new fixture concepts, finalize specifications and instructions for chain rollouts.
• Ensure that the company construction standards are met.
• Prepare financial analysis for assigned commodities and for special projects and develop cost reduction plans.
• Recommend and rank suppliers based on the evaluation of information gathered regarding supplier performance, products, meeting deadlines, financial stability, competitive pricing etc.
• Provide advice to internal clients, develop material standards and specifications, and recommend changes in specifications, distributions or any part of the supply chain that can reduce costs.
• Promote and maintain ethical relationships with current and new suppliers or any company or individual soliciting business.

Education/Skill Requirements:

• 10 years experience in retail store planning and construction.
• 7 years in a leadership capacity
• Must possess strong business, financial analysis, and budgeting skills.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Must meet many, simultaneous demands for important decisions/actions and face some confrontations or other difficult situations and demands for results.
• Degree in Engineering or Architecture preferred.
• Oracle experience is a plus
• MS Office
• Architectural design or civil engineering background or experience preferred.
